Right Below is an informative essay showing what we think Alyssa's family needs in order to make the family comfortable.
One in
45 kids in the U.S. are homeless. Even though the child we are representing,
Alyssa age 8, is not homeless. Alyssa’s family is poor and they need a heater,
a caravan, and less drug miss use.
The first thing that needs to be addressed today is the amount of drug misuse in the community. In Appalachia, Kentucky, there are many problems with drug addiction, drug misuse, and smoking. Kentucky as a whole is the state with the worst smoking problem (out of all 50 states) (http://statehealthstats.americashealthrankings.org/#/country/US/2011/Overall-State-Ranking) and has the third highest drug overdose mortality rate in the United States (healthyamericans.org/reports/drugabuse2013/release.php?stateid=KYtp://) . If drug and smoking misuse in the area, and in general, is not fixed, children like Alyssa continue to lose family and friends to these epidemics. This problem can be fixed or made better by starting a drug recovery program.
The next thing we’d like to address today is that Alyssa’s family needs a heater in her house. Currently, her house is only heated by a wooden stove. Having an additional heater would benefit Alyssa and her family and protect them against diseases and conditions caused by low body temperature. For example, if Kentucky had a harsh winter, Alyssa could get frostbite or worse.
The last thing involves Alyssa’s lack of sufficient shelter. Her family would like to buy a caravan because their house is falling down and caving in. For example, if a storm were to come through Appalachia, Alyssa could be injured.
In conclusion, Alyssa is in need of more drug recovery programs in Kentucky, better heating in her house, and a sufficient shelter. These things are important to better Alyssa’s life, her future, and her community. Please donate now to improve Alyssa’s living conditions before she gets seriously injured.
